Auto Glass Repair and Windshield Replacement Costs:
Auto glass repair and windshield replacement costs will vary by
several factors.
The location you live in will determine how much
you repair or replacement will cost. Often in larger cities the
cost will be less if you are paying from out of pocket with no insurance.
Of course if you have insurance the cost will be the same if you
live in the city or in the country because your cost will be limited
to your deductible. The average deductible is 100 dollars within
the U.S.
The type of auto you drive will determine how
much the glass for that model will be. A Ford Taurus Windshield
can be as much as 1/5 the cost of many fancy import auto´s.
Cars that have mass production usually will cost the least to repair.
Auto´s that are rarer will usually have a higher price.
The piece of glass you are replacing is the biggest
factor in price. Expect low cost on Windshields but look out for
a small piece of glass such as a window corner or a non moving window
to be out outrages. Some small pieces of glass can cost $1,000 or
more, leaving customers shocked. But low demand for side glass makes
the part more expensive across the spectrum.
Listing auto glass prices on this site or any
site does not work too well. The IGA has decided not to do so for
many reasons:
- The prices of glass change too often, sometimes weekly
- The price you will see may not be and in fact is usually not
complete.
- Many other directories are and continue to use low prices as
bait and switch.
- Most price listing websites simply want your data so 20 shops
can all try to call and hassle you for the business.
- IGA members and their shops prefer honest pricing and to know
their customers while building their glass shop business in your
community. No calling or hassling funny stuff.
The IGA promotes safety in the auto glass industry. We in no way
will ask for your personal data or record any of it.
